Tablo's New Album Tops iTunes Chart

"Fever's End", rapper Tablo's latest album, soared to the top of the iTunes hip hop and rap album charts both in the U.S. and Canada. The success suggest that Tablo, whose career went into eclipse for two years after false online allegations that he faked his academic credentials, is firmly back on track.

YG Entertainment, which manages Tablo, said part 1 of the two-part album tops the iTunes hip hop chart in the U.S. and Canada. Part 2 rose to fourth place in Japan, second in Norway, third in New Zealand and fifth in Australia.

In 2010, Tablo and his band Epik High's album "Epilogue" took the No.1 spot in the iTunes hip hop chart in the U.S.

He wrote both the lyrics and music for all 10 songs on the new album.

On Wednesday afternoon, Tablo tweeted, "I would like to thank listeners around the world who put Korean music on top of the world. It's been a surprise this morning and I feel like I received a huge present. Thanks".

At the time of his debut in 2003, Tablo attracted comment because of his impressive academic background. He has a degree in English Literature from Stanford University. But a bizarre online campaign in 2009 accused Tablo of faking his stellar academic background, which is not uncommon among Korean celebrities.

But a police investigation in October last year proved his credentials were genuine, which led to defamation charges being filed against 10 people.
