Being released on the 30th, the movie "The Fatal Encounter" is about 24 hours of intensity, surrounding a king's assassination, one year into King Jeong Jo's reign. It's based on an adverse change and is directed by Lee Jae-gyoo from "Damo", supported by the best crew in Chungmuro with an astounding production cost of 10 billion won.

- Hyun Bin's return, a new Jeong Jo

Jeong Jo has been redefined in various works and it's once again being highlighted in "The Fatal Encounter". Putting his family's dark past aside, he is a king who reformed development on human resources and reinforced royal authority. "The Fatal Encounter" focuses on the young Jeong Jo who has been on the throne for only a year. Based on the motive of the assassination, the political situation and danger he went through, is the climax.

Hyun Bin plays the young Jeong Jo. This is the first time in 3 years he's returning to the public. Teasers of him and his muscular back became a hot issue right away and reminded everyone about his comeback. Jung Jae-young, Cho Jung-seok, Cho Jae-hyun, Han Ji-min, Kim Sung-ryung, Park Sung-woong, Jung Eun-chae and other representing Chungmuro stars add weight to the movie. The casting alone is enough to heighten anticipation.

- The unstable factor of "The Fatal Encounter"

The only rival to "The Fatal Encounter" is Hollywood's "The Amazing Spiderman 2". The fact that superheroes have been getting all the attention lately, the Spiderman is going to be tough competition. "The Target" starring Ryu Seung-ryong and Yu Jun-sang is also being released on the same day and will not be easy to overcome. However, until the 15th when blockbuster "Godzilla" and Song Seung-heon's movie "Human Addiction" are released, "The Fatal Encounter" won't have any other competitors.

People are also saying a producer-turned-director never creates a hit. Lee Jae-gyoo has been successful with "Damo" and "Beethoven Virus" but it's still unsure if he'll be able to influence Chungmuro. At the press conference, he said, "I could afford to put in more effort into the movie more than my dramas".

- Trouble with promotions...the biggest variable

The future doesn't look too bright for "The Fatal Encounter", as it's having issues before release. Ever since the sinking of the Sewol ferry, the whole country has gone into mourning and theaters are experiencing stagnation. The conditions of the tragic accident doesn't allow for the actors and staff to promote eagerly. It's possible that the release will happen without much attention.

In fact, "The Fatal Encounter" press meeting was cancelled. The VIP premiere was also cancelled along with the premiere preview. The agency asked for consideration as it was done in expression of grief for the lost victims. Hyun Bin's media interview is also risky. It's disappointing that Hyun Bin, the movie's only and only ace card, cannot be put to full use in promoting the movie.
