Through a daily journal assignment, she shares her earnest adolescent views of the world and growing affection for Su Ha with him. Su Ha, meanwhile, develops a relationship with a fellow teacher, five years his senior. He sincerely cares about Hong Yeon, but perhaps not in the way she hopes for. With the songs of Connie Francis playing in the background, The Harmonium in My Memory is a beautiful, lingering memory of first love and love lost.

Charming coming of age story Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
"Harmonium in My Memory" may have a clunky title, but there is nothing clunky about this beautiful love sonnet to a more innocent time and place. Set in a remote rural community, the film tells of a handsome, 21 year old teacher who learns about life as his students learn from him and of the young student who becomes infatuated with him.

Jeon Do Yeon is a revelation as the lovestruck teenager; it is hard to imagine that this is the same actress that played the unfortunate prostitute in "You Are My Sunshine".

You will find humor, warmth, thrills, and enchantment in this gentle, yet captivating tale. I highly recommend it for a general audience.

This is one of the best films I've seen from the land of the hermit kingdom, one of the wittiest and one of the most well balanced. While other Korean films tend to smack right on the subject of love, Harmonium in my Memory balances the story very well, without making the story diabetic or anemic in its own.
The film takes place in 1963 Korea, and as the story implies, tells the crush and then to love of a young girl Yoon Hongyeon to her teacher Kang Soo-Ha. Of course, there are hedges along the way like Ms. Eun Hee Yang. Another flair that adds to the film is the journal writing of the student to the teacher, professing her emotions and her writing with sincerest devotion.
Other than that, the film tackles on the educational system of Korea right after the Korean War, female-bias, American colonialism (in some of teacher Kang's LPs) and the evolution of a girl's rise from childishness to maturity. I give the kudos to the actors who did their best in making the film well.
I've seen the film 4 times in 2 days, and it still is a fresh film to date.

Boring Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
this movie is boring.. falling asleep watching it. No sad scene in the movie. I can't find a sad moment. This movie is about a teacher went to the village to teach children and then a female student fall for the teacher. At the end, the teacher left the school and the children reminds in the village. So i don't see any sad point in this movie.

I disagree with the reviewers. This movie is not sad at all and it's boring. I was falling asleep watchin this movie... it looks like a very old movie to me.
