Korean drama tentatively titled "The Servant" held onto the No. 1 spot on the local box office over the weekend, scoring its second consecutive win.
Figures by the Korean Box Office System (KOBIS) released on Monday indicated that the erotic comedy melodrama attracted 383,942 moviegoers during the weekend of June 11 to 13.
"The Servant", starring Kim Joo-hyeok, Ryoo Seung-beom and Jo Yeo-jeong, is based on popular South Korean folktale "Chun Hyang", depicting what would happen if Lee Myong-ryong (played by Ryoo) turned out to be unattractive while his servant Bang Ja-jeon (played by Kim) is attractive.
Newly released action pic "The A-Team", starring an all-star cast of Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Sharlto Copley, bowed into the charts in second place with 187,409 admissions while computer-animated movie "How To Train Your Dragon" remained third with 178,835 tickets sold.
"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" fell down two notches to fourth place selling 140,547 tickets and "The Karate Kid" entered the box office charts at No. 5 with 123,967 admits.
Other movies on the top 10 included "Into Fire", "Sex and the City 2", "My Dear Desperado", "The Ghost Writer" and "Edge of Darkness".
