YesAsia Editorial Description

One of the most popular Korean dramas ever comes to DVD with English subtitles for the first time!

With mistaken identities, conniving vixens, love triangles, disapproving parents, Cinderella allusions, and co-habitation romance, Tomato is everything you can expect from a Korean drama - and more! If the plot and sentiments seem rather familiar, it is only because Tomato came before the rest. Starring top actress Kim Hee Sun (Sad Love Story) and the handsome Kim Suk Hoon (Tube), this classic Korean drama reached astounding ratings of 53% during its original broadcast on SBS in 1999. An entertaining mix of lighthearted romance and serious melodrama, Tomato was written by Lee Hee Myung, who would later go on to create hit dramas like Bright Girl's Success and My Fair Lady.

The bright and cheerful Lee Han Yi (Kim Hee Sun) moves from Jeju to the big city to pursue her dream of becoming a shoe designer. By chance, she saves lawyer and shoe company heir Cha Seung Joon (Kim Suk Hoon) after he gets hit by a car. When Seung Joon later mistakes Han Yi's friend Yoon Sae Ra (Kim Ji Young) as his savior, Sae Ra goes along with the mistake, hoping to win his affections. But fate works in strange ways, and Han Yi ends up renting the same place with Seung Joon and working at his estranged mother's shoe company. The reluctant roommates initially bicker incessantly, but grow closer over time. The jealous and calculating Sae Ra, however, is determined to sabotage both their relationship and Han Yi's career.

Tomato Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
There is no doubt that this is one of the best Korean drama of all time. It rank in the top 20 of the all time list for TV series ratings in Korea. I love this series because both the main characters Kim Hee-Sun and Kim Suk-Hoon acted very well and had great chemistry together. The supporting casts also did a great job. If you enjoy watching Korean drama then I highly recommended you to see this series.

Enjoyable Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
After watching many dramas that are tear jerkers and unbelievable love triangles, I found this movie to be refreshing because it is none of those. Yea KHS's charactor was too submissive but that's her role. It was convincing since she is so humble and too nice. Plus it makes the revenge all the more sweeter. Yes the story is nothing new and predictable but they presented it well. I felt it was well written. Had nice analogies, etc. I didn't see any redundant or overly boring parts. The irony and suspense will keep you watching. You'll find yourself cursing at the villian and rooting for KHS.

    Only O.K. Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
Just got done watching this. I watched it because a few friends had highly recommended it. I thought it was only so-so. I also get tired of watching someone be a doormat and continuing to take the punches while turning the other cheek. This got tiresome. The characters were not strong, the storyline predictable and the ending rather flat. Borrow it if you are going to watch it. Save your money because you won't watch it again if you purchase it.

Disappointed Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
I decided to get this movie because I read alot of good things about it but sadly I was disappointed. The story started out ok but then as it progresses I thought KHS would toughen up or wise up but she didn't so that made the story unbearable to watch. I can only take so much of a girl being so nice and so naive. I had to fast forward alot of parts because it was just getting on my nerves. I love K-dramas but this one didn't do it for me. =(

You say Tomato, I say Classic! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I REALLY am SO happy Tomato is finally out on DVD with English subtitles. Its definitly a classic. A lot of the newer dramas sometimes dont have the "romance" of these older ones. Kim Hee-Sun and Kim Ji-Young have a lot of chemistry together and are very cute.

The DVD boxed set is a nice linen and good material. There is a cute bonus feature that is fun. haha.. Enjoy! You will be blessed!
