"Making my imagined ideas for comics, animation and game into reality?"
'Gongsangisang' ? The 1st Youth Culture Contents Creation Festival, which allows participants to experience the complete process of cultural content creation, is a resounding success.
This is the third public subscription contest promoted and hosted by KOCCA (Director Seo Byeongmun) and sponsored by the Hangyerei Newspaper Company. It gives middle and high school students nationwide the opportunity to experience the complete process of cultural content production, from planning to production of cultural content in six areas of comic, animation, character, game planning, movie and criticism.
"This year's jury generally viewed that there were some expected superior works in the areas of comic, character, animation and game planning". In particular, Park Gwangjin, director of Ennemes who took in charge of judgment in the animation area, said, "I think there will be better well organized works in the next 2~3 years if a more systematic educational support is provided".
Those whose proposals passed the first round engaged in a 'creation camp' in the Ansung Campus of Chung Ang University for 2 days and 3 nights from 17th to 19th and experienced planning and storytelling techniques, as well as the theory and practice involved in the production process, among other activities.
Han Sangwuk (3rd year at Wongwang High School), one of the students who participated in the filmmaking class of the camp, said, "When I joined the camp, I first honestly thought other students are competitors. However, the more I conversed and interacted with them, the greater I felt that the 2 days and 3 nights were too short. I am so happy for having met these other kindred people who have the same dreams as I have. I hope we will keep in touch with one another even if we end up in different places".
The successful candidates are to submit their final works by the 13th of next month, and the ceremony of awarding prizes for the final selections will be promoted on October 2nd (the place has not been decided).
For the Grand Prize-wining team (Prize of the Minister of the Culture and Tourism), KRW 1 million of prize money, medal and subsidiary prize are to be given. Five teams are to be selected for the Highest Award (Director's Award of KOCCA/ President's Award of Hangyerei Newspaper), six teams are to be selected for the Superior Award. A prize for participation will be given to all participants.
