Two Korean animations were selected as award-winning works in the 20th Japanese Digital Contents Grand Prix.
Korea Culture and Content Agency President Prize-winning 'The Chamber'
The Japanese office (director: Kim Sang-hyun) of Korea Culture and Content Agency announced on January 25th that in the 20th Japanese Digital Contents Grand Prix Grand Prix, Korean animations The Forsaken Dog and The Chamber won the Superior Prize in the overseas category and Korea Culture and Content Agency President Prize, respectively.
The Forsaken Dog was authored by Choi Hyun-myung who is majoring in animation at the Korean National University of Arts.
The animation criticizes the cold-heartedness of the world and adults through a forsaken dog to show the warm-heartedness of a child.
The Chamber, is seen through a man in a room secluded from the outside world.
It depicts communication with the outside and new experiences through which objects are expanded into space and space returns to objects.
This was authored by Yoo Suk-hyun who is majoring in Industrial Design at Hanyang University.
Meanwhile, the Grand Prize in the Japanese Digital Contents Grand Prix went to a Japanese work titled Always and the awarding ceremony was held at the TEPIA hall in Minakogu, Tokyo, on January 25th.
Japanese Digital Contents Grand Prix organized from the, Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry in cooperation with the Digital Content Association of Japan.
It was launched in 1986 with the aim of exploring new markets for the digital contents industry in Japan and looking for talented individuals.
Korea Culture and Contents Agency has endeavored to help explore new Korean authors by offering the presidential award since 2002 when it formed an alliance with DCAJ.
Korean works have continued to win prizes since 2002 when Angel by Cyper Entertainment won the Superior Prize in the new talent category and Korea Culture and Contents Agency President Prize.
