Veteran Broadcaster Sohn Suk-hee to Helm Cable Newsroom

Broadcaster and academic Sohn Suk-hee, who teaches at Sungshin Women's University, will quit his job to head the newsroom of cable TV channel JTBC.

Sohn told the Chosun Ilbo on Thursday, "I'll take it as my last challenge". He pledged to try and contribute to bring society together after it has been "increasingly divided by the mainstream media".

Sohn joined MBC in 1984 and was a news presenter and interviewer until he left in 2006 to take up his teaching post. He continued to host a radio program on MBC, but it comes to an end on Friday. He tendered his resignation at Sungshin Women's University on Thursday.

"It will take some time until I settle down in my new job, but I won't let you down", he told students and listeners of his radio show.
