Movie lovers over this holiday weekend can choose from a pair of Korean comedies - two Oscar-nominated movies from Hollywood and an adapation of a famous children's fantasy novel.
Son Heekyung has this week's new releases.

The Korean comedy "Highway Star" is about a man named Daelho who dreams of becoming a rock star.
He signs a record deal but starts off as a singer of trot - the oldest form of Korean pop music.
He begins to appreciate the genre thanks to his colleagues especially an attractive and passionate trot singer.
Daeho realizes that singing from the heart is more important than musical genre.

Next up is another Korean comedy, "Miracle on 1st Street".
A large number of gangsters are assigned to kick a group of poor families out of their homes to facilitate the construction of an upscale area.
But the families have a defender, a young woman who dreams of becoming a boxer.

From Hollywood comes the Oscar-nominated film "The Queen", a behind-the-scenes look at the interaction between Queen Elizabeth II and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
This fictional account of real events show the two clashing over how to handle the death of Princess Diana.

"Flags of Our Fathers" is another Oscar-nominated film.
Director Clint Eastwood's movie is about the Battle of Iwo Jima, and how Washington used the three surviving flag-raisers as propaganda to lift the morale of the American people.

"Bridge to Terabithia" is an adventure fantasy based on the famous children's novel.
A boy dreams of becoming the fastest runner in his class, but his hopes are dashed when a new girl outruns him.
The boy and girl soon become friends, and discover a magical kingdom in the forest where they can reign together as king and queen.
