'Crying Fist' Hits Top of Box Office

After a weekend of fierce competition, the film "Crying Fist (Chumogi Unda)" came up as the winner grabbing the top spot in the local box office, beating out "A Bittersweet Life (Talkomhan Insaeng)" by only a slim margin.

The two domestic films opened nationwide on April 1.

"Crying Fist," a drama about boxing, drew in 214,450 while the noir thriller "A Bittersweet Life" was seen by 212,739.

"Mapado", the comedy film that was the top film for three weeks, fell to third place. "She's on Duty" and "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous" came in fourth and fifth, respectively.

The South Korean box office is based on audience figures in screens across the country and calculated by the Korean Film Council.
