'Crystal Fairy Z-Squad' wins at Asian TV Awards

Korean original animation Crystal Fairy Z-Squad (Enemes, CEO: Choi, Jin) won in the TV animation category at the 2007 Asian TV Awards, making it the first Korean animation to have accomplished so.

A fantasy adventure 3D animation about three girls who save the Earth from an evil spirit attempting to conquer the universe, this 26-episode animation was broadcast on SBS from Dec. 2006 to May 2007. Through their battles against evil, these three girls discover the value of their own life and existence.

The excellent quality of Crystal Fairy Z-Squad had already received acclaim when it was chosen by KOCCA as the 2006 Star Project. It also received the President Prize at the Digital Content Awards last year, followed by this year's second award in the animation category at the Korea Cartoon, Animation, and Character Awards.

It has been confirmed that the animation will be broadcast via Disney in the USA and YTV and Teletoon in Canada early next year, and the producers are currently negotiating with some 12 European countries as well as Japan on its broadcasting.

Now in its 12th year, Asian TV Awards is an international TV content award-giving body, hosted by Television Asia and sponsored by Singapore's MDA. This year's Asian TV Awards was held on Nov. 29, offering prizes in 29 categories of program, performance, and technologies.
