'Korean Hot Wave' heats Japan

Independent Band, originated from Hongdae clubs (near the Hongik Univ.), and Korean musicals that moderns' lives are reflected will meet Japanese viewers.

KOCCA (Director: Seok-man Ko) announced that 'Korea Hot Wave', which is a program for introducing Korea's great contents, would be broadcasted through tvk of Yokohama for eight straight months from 3rd. Based on hot issues of cultural contents which have been leading Korea, Korea's young culture, which have never been introduced, will be introduced from stages of creation to progresses of production with intoducing powers of popularity.

For thirty minutes, the first broadcasting will be made at 9:00pm of 3rd which is the golden time by a compere, Sasabe Yoshiko, who has been worked as an NHK announcer. Through the program an independent bank 'Gogo Star' and a musical 'Lunatic' will be introduced in detail. Also advertising between the programs will be Korea Sparkling which contains Taekwondo, Korea's representative contents, with Korea's beautiful tourist attractions.

Korea Hot Wave, which will be broadcasted every Tuesday for 2 months, will introduce Korea's music, animation, and characters with sketch of the spots and interviews of related people. Also it will be conducted based on various Korea's contents like tourism, foods, events, and festivals.
With the program, Korea's contents industry has been expecting that another Korean Wave will be formed as well as forming cultural interests of Japanese by introducing upgraded Korean culture in Japan.

Tvk, originated in Yokohama, is a local broadcasting station which covers 17,780,000 households in Kanto areas like Tokyo and Kanagawa. In areas of Kanto, about 150,000 of Korean residents have been settled. So the broadcasting station has been highly interested in Korean dramas and has made 'Korea Festival Day'.
