'Oseam' Receives Cristal d'Annecy 2004

`Oseam`
Animation 'Oseam' was selected as the best feature animation from the Annecy International Animation Festival that ended on June 12. It received Cristal d'Annecy 2004.

This is the second time that a Korean animation was awarded with Cristal d'Annecy; the first was to Marie's Story in 2002. Park Se-jong's Birthday Boys received Jean-Luc Xiberas award for a first film in the short film category.

Oseam is a heart-warming story of a five-year-Oldboy Gil-son and his blind sister Gami. It is based on a children's story by Jeong Chae-bong, and the animation was first screened in April 2003. Even though it failed in attracting many audiences to theatres, it received outstanding reviews from those who watched it.

It was invited to various festivals prior to its participation in Annecy. An export contract was recently finalized with France, and the company is actively promoting overseas distribution. The animation's accomplishment at Annecy Festival will have a positive impact on that regard.

`Birthday Boys`
Many Korean animative works participated at Annecy Festival this year. Park Se-jong's Birthday Boys received Jean-Luc Xiberas award for a first film in the short film category.

It was selected as the best short animation in SIGGRAPH 2004 held in the beginning of May, in the US. It is staged in Korea during the war in 1951. A box that a little boy opens thinking that it's a birthday gift from his dad at the war changes his life.

52 Korean animations including Oseam, Hammer Boy, Life, and Empress Chung were screened at the "Honoring Korea" event, and received positive reviews.
