Director Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" has become the most successful Korean film ever shown in Vietnam.

The film has earned US$1.96 million in ticket sales in about two weeks since its opening there on June 21. The previous record was held by Yeon Sang-ho's zombie flick "Train to Busan", which racked up some $1.86 million in 2016.

"Parasite" has already become the most-viewed Korean film in France, attracting over 680,000 viewers in about 20 days after its release there in early June.

"Parasite", which won the top prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival, has attracted more than 9.6 million viewers since its release here on May 30.
