'TaeGukGi' Wins at Malaysian Fest

SEOUL (Yonhap) _ The film "Taegukgi", won two top awards, including the honor of best film, in the Asia-Pacific Film Festival on Sunday.

The South Korean blockbuster, directed by Kang Je-gyu, also won the honor of best director at the festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where it was nominated in nine categories.

"Taegukgi", which is the name of South Korea's national flag, tells the story of two young brothers forced to join the armies of rivals South Korea and North Korea, respectively, in the 1950-53 Korean War.

When it was screened in South Korea 2004, the movie drew more than 10 million viewers in a country of 48 million people.

Also at the festival, South Korean actor "Joo Hyun" won the award of best actor for his role in the movie A Family.
