Director Ryoo Seung-wan's latest film "Jjakpae (The City of Violence)" has been invited to the competition section of the Deauville Asian Film Festival in France, which kicks off on March 28.

"Jjakpae" is a follow-up film to Ryoo's critically acclaimed "Crying Fist" (2005), and the film's production studio said Ryoo's stylish action scenes and well-developed plot have appealed to the organizers of the French film festival.

The film revolves around three old friends who gather for a fourth friend's funeral and decide to track down his murderer. Director Ryoo was previously invited to the festival in 2005 for his film "Arahan".
