'The Shameless', 'Madonna' and 'The Office' invited to Cannes Film Festival

Three Korean movies have been invited to this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Director Oh Seung-wook's "The Shameless", director Shin Su-won's "Madonna" are on the list for 'Un Certain Regard' and director Hong Won-chan's "The Office" came up on the list for 'Midnight Screening'. No Korean film has been listed in the competition category this year.

The administration office of Cannes Film Festival held a press conference on April 16th and announced the list of 17 films in the competition category and the list of 26 films in non-competition category in total of 43 films.

"The Shameless" is about a murderer's lover and a detective, who chases after the murderer. Actress Jeon Do-yeon took on the leading role. Jeon Do-yeon was awarded Best Actress award for her role in director Lee Chang-dong's 'Secret Sunshine', 2007 and was appointed as a jury for the competition category last year. Jeon Do-yeon is going to Cannes this year again.

Jeon Do-yeon took on the role as murderer's woman, Kim Hyegyeong and Kim Nam-gil will play the detective Jeong Jaegon. "The Shameless" will be released in May in Korea.

Seo Young-hee this year again will walk on the red carpet of Cannes with her movie, "Madonna". "Madonna" talks about scars and healing of life. Seo Young-hee plays nursing assistant Hye-rim working for VIP ward in a hospital, who lives her life ignoring her own emotions carried in her slender and weak body.

Director Shin Su-won was awarded for 'Passerby #3', 2010, in Tokyo International Film Festival in 2012 and also received the Canal+ award in Cannes Film Festival in the same year. In 2013, he received Special Mention for "Pluto" from Berlin International Film Festival in 2013.

Actor Park Sung-woong is honored to have two of his movies invited to this year's Cannes Film Festival. Park Sung-woong played the leading roles in "The Shameless" and "The Office".

"The Office" depicts a mysterious murder case in the set of a company. Park Sung-woong and Go Ah-sung took on the leading roles. Go Ah-sung had been to Cannes in 2009 for movie, "A Brand New Life" by director Ounie Lecomte. "The Office" is director Hong Won-chan's debut project.

Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13th to May 24th in Cannes, France.
