1st Hallyu Fashion Show to Be Held Saturday

A large scale fashion show featuring Korean Hallyu stars will be held at the City Hall plaza on Saturday as part of the ongoing Hi Seoul Festival.

The show is designed to promote Korea's fashion industry to foreign tourists. Free partnering between designers and celebrity stars has taken place since May, and sixteen stars will show for the catwalk. As for designers, 10 will participate from SFAA, 6 from KFDA and 7 from NWS.

The fashion show is less about introducing new trends than about promoting the fashion industry to the general public.

Post-show events include star donations linked with the online shopping mall G Market, which will run an event shop for 20 days where lucky winners will receive clothes that are auctioned off.

The show's planning chief says the show is themed on colors that represent Seoul's image in a bid to induce public interest and particularly attract Asian tourists to the country, which will in turn boost the domestic fashion industry via promotion through Hallyu stars.

The show, which will run twice a year, will next be held in October in a more professional and systematic fashion.
