70% of those in 20s, 30s want to keep first love in memory

The number of viewers of the Korean film, "Architecture 101" which portrays a woman's first love with her classmate, has exceeded 3.5 million, industry sources said Monday. The film helps moviegoers remember their first love.

i-um.com, a website that arranges blind dates for single people, conducted a survey of 1,020 unmarried people in their 20s and 30s from April 10 through April 23.

When asked would they like to reunite with their first lover, 70 percent of respondents said no. They said they just wanted to keep the first love in their memories.

On the timing of their first love, one third of male respondents said they had their first when they attended college, followed by high school (30 percent), middle school (26 percent) and primary school (11 percent).

About 40 percent of female respondents answered that they experienced their first love when they attended college, followed by primary school (30 percent) and middle and high school (15 percent each).
When asked who their first lover was, 59 percent of male respondents and 40 percent of female interviewees said it was one of their classmates.

Twenty-six percent of males questioned said their first lover was a younger or older alumnus of their alma mater, while 23 percent of females said it was one of their friends.

As to physical affection, a half of respondents answered that they held hands with their partner during dates, whereas 43 percent said they kissed. Eight percent said they had sexual intercourses.
Seventy-eight percent of male respondents and 90 percent of female interviewees said they had vivid memories of their first love, the survey said.

When asked what their definition of first love was, 41 percent of respondents said it was pureness, followed by romance (30 percent), virility (19 percent), passion (7 percent) and pain (4 percent).
