A box-office record of 'Spring Summer Autumn Winter and Spring'

A box-office record of 'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... And Spring' by director Kim Ki-duk has exceeded $7 million (approximately 7.7 billion won).

Considering that the movie's pure production costs was merely 1 billion won and domestic visitors were no more than 100,000 people, such a record deserves a considerable performance.

'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... And Spring' appeared to gain an entrance fee income of $7.12 million at a minimum till Nov. 4.

The movie has obtained a box-office record of a total of $2.38 million till Oct. 10 since it was released in North America region in past Feb, this year.

In another regions including Korea till the same day, 'Spring Summer Autumn Winter and Spring' has recorded an entreance fee income of $4.57 million.

In particular, this movie has not only gained the highest box-office result among Korean films released in the United States to date, but also showed an equal public favor and box-office record up to Europe and North-america area.

In "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... And Spring", Kim Ki-duk, a South Korean director whose past films were often fueled by violence, does a complete about-face.

This film is a pastoral poem about the changing seasons and a meditation on the cycle of life.

In a tranquil and timeless setting of a temple floating atop a man-made lake in a forest, surrounded by mountain spires that cut the monastery off from worldly concerns, an old monk teaches his young disciple the wisdom of Buddha over the many seasons of their lives.
