A 'chef' of the broadcasting world, MC Jung Eun-ah

Broadcasting people can be grouped into two types, those who are better in person and those who are better on TV. Anchorwoman Jung Eun-ah is the kind of person who exudes comfort and trust wherever you meet her, on- and off-camera. The careers of female announcers are typically relatively short-lived, but Jeong, now over 40, still stands tall in the field. To see the same person every day on TV can grow wearisome, but Jeong's case is different. Her sophistication and warmth shines on each and every program and she skillfully 'cooks up' each show, disproving the myth than female hosts can only play a secondary role.

A Born Media Personality

Jeong says she was just born with talent and enjoys her job, but that the very beginning of her career goes back to her third grade in elementary school. Recommended by her music teacher, she applied for membership in the KBS Children's Choir, which she gained. After that, she became an assistant host of the radio show in which she improved her exceptional speaking ability and impressive broadcast skills. She was then offered the position of host of . The elementary school experience led her to broadcast club activities in middle and high school and naturally led to career plans in the field after college. On top of her singing talent honed through her choir years, Jeong also composes and can play many musical instruments. Graduating from the Hanguk University of Foreign Studies' Korean language education department, Jeong entered KBS in 1990 as the company's 17th class of announcers. Her 15 year career mainly comprised morning program hosting. Hosting the 'Korea Now Live' for a year following her debut, she hosted the 'Morning Court' from '91 to '98 and 'Good Morning Live' since then until now, which explains her nickname "the elder of morning programs". To always appear vivacious and healthy on TV, she established a daily regimen ensuring she would get more than seven hours of sleep a night, a regular diet and two hours of daily exercise. Her perfectionist efforts have paid off as she was assessed to be in her mid-20s in terms of apparent age on the recent health variety program 'Vitamin'. With her attractive face, 173cm tall stature and slim figure, her fashion coordinators praise her as being 'model sized'. But Jeong says she has never been on a diet.

Professional at both work and home

It's tough to be perfect at both work and home, but Jeong does such household chores as grocery shopping, cleaning and laundry. She even cooks. She's been married 13 years to her husband, who runs a small trade firm. They are content with their respective jobs and they are both far from lazy when it comes to household work. They dated for 8 years and lived together for 11, but they still enjoy midnight movies and keep a couple's journal. She must be a professional when it comes to love as well.

Jeong has paved the way for anchorwomen in the realm of news, information and culture, as well as entertainment. Since declaring herself a freelancer in 1997, she has appeared on MBC TV's <21st Century Committee> , showing off humorous skills and proving that announcers can also create synergy with entertainers. Even during live shows, she hasn't made a single major blunder. Always staying calm, she always exudes calm and easy comfort on whatever program she hosts, and with any guest who appears. Control of emotions is most important to achieve this end, so she says she has barely shed a tear even during the most heartbreaking of stories.
As a star announcer, Jeong is a role model to junior anchorwomen. It isn't an exaggeration to say that all of the younger announcers these days who appear on entertainment programs hold up Jeong as the ideal. During her years-long broadcasting career, Jeong says she has met numerous people and learned life secrets from their stories. Likening herself to a tree that has become firmly rooted, she vows to continuously make her tree rings larger and clearer.
