The send-off was held at the Gimpo Funeral Hall in Shilnakwon, Gyeonggi-do, at 5 AM on the 10th. After cremation at Byeokje Crematorium in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, he will be placed on a rainbow-floating hill in Gimpo.

Kim Sung-won made his debut as a second CBS voice actor in 1957. In writer Kim Eun-sook's drama "Lovers in Paris" (2004), he was the chairman Han Seong-hoon of Cheil Group and the father of Han Gi-joo (Park Shin-yang).
