Actress Jeon Mi-sun was found dead in an apparent suicide at a hotel in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province on Saturday. She was 48.

Jeon made her debut in 1989 in a KBS drama series based on Park Kyung-ni's epic novel "Toji, the Land". At the time of her death, she was in her hometown of Jeonju on a tour of the long-running play "2 Nights and 3 Days with My Mother".

Her latest film "The King's Letters" is due to be released on July 24, and she was scheduled to appear in a drama series this fall.

Her management agency said Jeon had been seeing a psychiatrist for treatment of depression. She leaves behind her husband Park  Sang-hoon and a son.
