According to the House of Sharing, a home for the survivors of the Japanese World War II atrocity, Kim Soon-ok died on Thursday morning aged 96.

Born in Pyongyang in 1922, she worked as a housekeeper and a nanny before being told at the age of 18 that there was a factory job offer.

Instead, she was forced into a military brothel in China to serve Japanese soldiers.

Now only 26 of the Korean victims survive.
