Andre Kim Fashion Show Staged at Angkor Wat

A fashion show by designer Andre Kim opened at the Angkor Wat on Monday as part of the "Angkor-Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2006" being held in Cambodia.

Under the title of "Fantasia", the two-day fashion show will be presented under six themes--"Angkor Toward 21st Centrury-Gyeonggju Expo", "Passion, Dream and Romanticism", "The Legend of the Khmer Kingdom", "The Fantasia of the Shilla Kingdom", "Oriental Rhapsodies", and "Everlasting Love of Utopia".

"I have long prepared for a fashion show at the Angkor Wat", Andre Kim said. "I will produce the great epic of the Khmer and Shilla Kingdoms at this 'garden of gods', Angkor Wat".

With actress Kim Hee-sun and actor Kim Rae-won as main models, some 20 actors and actresses will walk on the catwalk, including Jang Ji-woo, Choi Sung-joon, Heo Jung-min and Lee Ki-woo.

The expo's Cambodian director Thong Khon said that they selected Andre Kim among many world famous designers who expressed their intention to hold a fashion show at the temple, one of the world's seven mysteries. "I think Andre Kim is the designer who can best portray the expo's theme of the 'Old Future - Asia's Mystery' in a fashion show", he added.

Lee Young-seok, the Korean vice chief of the expo, said that the show will serve as an opportunity to spread the Korean Wave, which is already sweeping Cambodia. "It will display the beauty of not only the ancient Khmer and Shilla Kingdoms but also of Korean tradition", he added.
