Seungri, a former member of the group Big Bang who is being accused of prostitution and embezzlement, and Yoo In-suk, former CEO of Glass Holdings, have been denied arrest warrants.
Shin Jong-yeol, a senior judge at the Seoul Central District Court, rejected an arrest warrant for Yoo In-suk and Seungri.
Judge Shin said, "There is room for dispute over the major charges of embezzlement depending on the legal natures of Glass Holdings and Burning Sun, the composition of shareholders, how they withdrew funds and where they have been used".
"It is difficult to acknowledge the reason for arrest, such as destruction of evidence, given the extent of the charge, the extent of the suspect's involvement, and the interrogation. At this stage, we cannot recognize the necessity and the significance of the arrest of the suspects".
Seungri and Yoo In-suk attended the court for questioning before their arrest. Despite being asked by reporters if they acknowledge the charges, Seungri quickly headed to court, remaining silent. The same was true of Yoo In-suk.
Seungri and Yoo In-suk returned home from the confinement of the Seoul Jungnang Police Station detention.
The police requested a preliminary arrest warrant for the two men on the 8th. Yoo In-suk for the charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Prostitution, the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, and the Food Sanitation Act. The same goes for Seungri. The police only specified the areas where the suspicion was clearly revealed.
Seungri is denying most charges and Yoo In-suk only acknowledged the charges of soliciting prostitution.
