AT THE FAR EAST FILM FESTIVAL OF UDINE THE FIRST HORROR FILM SHOT ON iPhone: "Night Fishing", CULT MOVIE OF THE GREAT Park Chan-wook!

Lasting only thirty three minutes, but already a cult movie: "Night Fishing", the horror film by Park Chan-wook - legendary filmmaker of "Oldboy" and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" - was shot entirely using an iPhone! With a very modest budget (130,000 dollars) and a crew reduced to the bare minimum, Park has made an exceptional strike at our imaginations, demonstrating that real quality films can also be made using such familiar and everyday objects as a mobile phone.

This small masterpiece that Park directed together with his brother, the renowned media artist Park Chan-kyong, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival (Golden Bear in the Berlin festival's short film competition!) and will land at another international festival for the second time, at FAR EAST FILM 13! This Friulan point of arrival will be an event, not only because no other short film has ever been shown in Udine during the previous thirteen editions, but also because the FEFF public was the first to believe that Park Chan-wook was a cult director well before his "Vengeance Trilogy" break through in the West.

The genius of Seoul, as many will recall, personally accompanied his film "JSA - Joint Security Area" (complex and fascinating work about the political-military conflict between the two Koreas), to Udine for the 2001 edition of Far East Film, and a year later, the very same stage saw the launch of the magnificent "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" (first episode of the Trilogy). Thanks to "Night Fishing", which Park and his brother marked with the brand name PARKing CHANce, Far East Film will virtually re-embrace one of the festival's biggest names, and will give as a gift to the audience, a true cinematic gem!
The plot? It all begins with a man who after crossing through the woods heavy with fog, reaches a riverbank and starts fishing. The hours slip away and the daylight gives way to evening shadows. What is going to happen? Who is the young woman who suddenly appears in front of the protagonist? We will not say, of course, but what we will say is that critics have expressed their approval for "Night Fishing" calling it "visually sumptuous and artistically superior ..."

Far East Film 13, from 29th April to 7th May, will present over 60 new movies coming from China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan and new entry, Mongolia. A 360 degree panorama presented by Centro Espressioni Cinematografiche, representing public tastes from the other side of the globe, investigating once again, a universe of productions that are amongst the most original, artistically sparkling and economically the most explosive on the entire planet.
