Avatar Brings in $88.5Mln in S.Korea

The Hollywood blockbuster "Avatar" has raked in 88-point-five million U.S. dollars in South Korea, the eighth largest figure in any nation.

The Korean Film Council said Friday that the science-fiction epic earned about 88-point-five million dollars since it was released on December 17th of last year.

James Cameron's adventure film recorded the largest ticket sales in North America and France.

About 16-point-four million movie tickets were purchased in South Korea in January. Over 39 percent of those tickets were for Korean films, up about ten percentage points from December.
