Behind the Scene with Goblin!

2016/12/24 | Permalink

Put your hands up if you are into the drama "Goblin" right now! What a time to live, to have my heart fluttered by a Goblin and a Grim reaper?

For all of you "Goblin" fans, here's some behind story with the casting, CG and teamwork on set, enjoy!

1. Casting

Gong Yoo, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, Yook Sung-jae, and Lee El – the casting for this drama is solid as it can be. How were they able to gather up these hot stars on set?

- Gong Yoo

5 years of consistent Love Call from the screen writer, Kim Eun-sook moved his heart.

He said, "She is a star screen writer, yet I felt such passion from her. I remember her telling me "Even if my previous work was a hit, I won't be arrogant and give my very best. Trust me". And that made me want to work with her".

- Lee Dong-wook

Lee Dong-wook's agency conveyed his mind – "Lee Dong-wook got to know the "Goblin" because he worked with the production before when he was filming "Bubble Gum". He had a great interest in the charming character of the grim reaper and the major deciding factor was because he heard Gong Yoo took the role of the Goblin. They are very close".

- Kim Go-eun

The production of Goblin shared how the screen writer Kim Eun-sook was contemplating a great deal in which actress would be able to bring out this complex character well and thought of Kim Go-eun. When the two met, Kim Eun-sook had a solid assurance that she's the one.

- Yoo In-na

The production of Goblin shared – "Sunny's character is all about her tone and chic atmosphere. Yoo In-na is great in bringing out that charm".

- Yook Sung-jae

Many idols and young actor's agencies wanted the role and Yook Sung-jae got the opportunity! He was able to complete such an adorable character and many agree that this was a successful casting. Yook Sung-jae shared "When I was offered a role, I was just honored by the fact I could take part in this great drama, I'm grateful for it".

- Lee El

Lee El's agency shared her thoughts – "She thought this role had a great impact in the show and memorable. There was no hesitation for a "Yes!" Also, she was intrigued to have the experience for the special make up".

2. The world of "Goblin" is completed with CG

CG is a huge deal in Goblin since it paints the picture for the glorious background and shows the magical ability that each characters have. The ocean scene in the first episode made a great impact – which was done with a lot of CG and on the actual water.

The CG on the grim reaper's transformation and the Goblin fire was smooth too.

When the Goblin save Eun-tak from the kidnappers, the car used in the scene was an actual car, not a fake. They actually did slice that car in half and used CG for the burnt effect.

3. Teamwork on the set

Goblin's famous bromance have its reason! Gong Yoo and Lee Dong-wook was already a best friend to begin with. The staff shared "They are so close to each other and Lee Dong-wook is so mischievous. They are also full of ideas and often come up with great ones together".

Having the two older ones being so silly, Yook Sung-jae blends right in. Yook Sung-jae is known to be the "Beagle Idol" which is a term used for the K-pop idols who are energetic and fun loving. A staff at the scene also shared that every day is a party for the three and all the actors and actresses loves the youngest.
