"Okja" is competing with other films for Palme d'Or.
This is the fourth time Bong Joon-ho is going to Cannes. He was there in 2006 for "The Host", in 2008 for "TOKYO!", in 2009 for "Mother - 2009" and this time for "Okja". This is the first time in 6 years he's visiting Cannes since the year 2011 when he was judge for the Golden Camera Award.
Bong Joon-ho launched his movie to 190 countries on Netflix and it is expected that he will stand out in Korea as an international director.
Netflix has two movies in Cannes; "Okja" and "Mayor Rowitz Story".
One day Ok-ja disappears and her only friend and family Mi-ja looks everywhere for her.
Starring in "Okja" are Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Giancarlo Esposito, Steven Yeun, Lily Collins and other Hollywood actors with Ahn Seo-hyun, Byun Hee-bong, Yoon Je-moon, Choi Wooshik and more. "Okja" was created by Netflix, Plan B Entertainment, Louis Pictures and Kate Street Pictures Company.
"Okja" is coming to Netflix this June and in Korea, it will be released through NEW Distributions in cinemas.
