CJ Entertainment invests in Singaporean film fund

CJ Entertainment, along with the Singapore Media Development Authority, have announced their participation in a $50 million film fund at this year's AFM. Bang Singapore and Asia Media & Technology Capital have also invested in the fund. The new fund represents a strategic move for CJ, as many of the films to receive the go-ahead will be sourced and produced by the company. has already made a head start after collaborating on two projects with Bang Singapore.

The move by CJ comes amidst a growing push into international markets, especially Asia. the company's exhibition arm already has screens in Los Angeles and China and has the largest amount of screens in Korea. As a producer the company has set up numerous co productions and partnerships with China and Japan. Group has also initiated TV ventures in Vietnam and home shopping programs in India and China. significantly, the company announced this year that it will co-produce three films with Chris Columbus's 1492 Pictures, from Hollywood.
