A United Nations agency for amateur filmmakers will hold an annual convention and a film festival in Daegu late this month.
According to the Daegu city government, the International Union of Non-Professional Cinema, also known as UNICA, will hold the event for nine days from August 26th.
Non-professional filmmakers from 40 member countries of UNICA will participate in the event.
The planned international film festival is a non-commercial, non-competitive event that has been held mostly in European countries such as Spain, Belgium and Poland.
A Daegu official expects the hosting of the event to become a springboard for the city's rise to an international cultural city.
