Dazzling Andre Kim Fashing Show in Bangkok

Noted Korean designer Andre Kim's fashion show that took place in Bangkok Saturday was praised for its Oriental mystical beauty combining Korean and Thai fashion.
The Andre Kim Fantasia Fashion Show in Bangkok began at 6:30 p.m. local time at the Bangkok Convention Center and was attended by some 2,000 people, including the crown princess and other Thai royal family members, government officials and foreign ambassadors.
The Korean embassy in Thailand invited Kim for a show to mark the two countries' 50th year of diplomatic ties. It was Kim's first show in the Southeast Asian nation.
The show featured 180 spring and summer outfits based on six themes: "2010 spring-summer global festival in Bangkok", "unforgettable romanticism and dream poetry", "lasting glory of the Thai empire", "the story of Korea, the land of the morning calm", "legends of the Orient in seven colors" and "the lasting love of Shangri-La".
The audience applauded each and every presentation featuring the hallmarks of Kim's notable designs.
One Thai woman (22) said, "Kim's costumes subtly harmonize East and West fashion. I have rediscovered the beauty of Thai silk through this show".
Twenty-two of the featured outfits were made of Thai silk and traditional Thai patterns combined with Kim's trademark colorful romanticism. They will be displayed at the ZEN Gallery in downtown Bangkok for a month and then donated to the Thai royal family.
Kim also presented a dress to Queen Sirikit.
Korean actor Lee Joon-gi and Thai actress May Pitchanart were the main models of the show, the highlight of which was a wedding finale. Evan and Oh Jong-hyuk, members of the Korean band Click-B, also appeared as guests.
Kim said, "Since first visiting Thailand in 1966 and enamored by the beautiful colors and traditional designs, I've always wanted to hold a fashion show here, which came true after 43 years".
Korean Ambassador to Bangkok Jeong Hae-mun said, "The Thai palace lent significant support to the event. We hope Korean fashion will blossom in Southeast Asia as the next Korean Wave".
The show was initially slated for late last year on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, but was delayed due to political unrest in Thailand.
