Digital TV Promotion Organization Launches

An alliance has kicked off to prepare for the digitalization of terrestrial TV services in 2012.

The alliance, named "DTV Korea", is a conglomerate of broadcasters, academics, consumer activists and home appliance retailers.

It will focus on informing people about the wide range of digital TV services and correcting the public's misunderstanding that the conversion to digital would require the purchase of new, expensive digital TVs.

The alliance will also sit down with the government to discuss offering free digital TV conversion components or antennas to low-income households.
