Film director Park Chan-wook will serve on the jury for this year's Cannes Film Festival, which is set to kick off next month.

Park is the fourth Korean to sit on the jury at Cannes after film director Shin Sang-ok in 1994, film director Lee Chang-dong in 2009 and actress Jeon Do-yeon in 2014.

Acclaimed Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar was named as the president of the jury. The eight member jury also includes American actors Will Smith and Jessica Chastain and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing,

Park's film "The Handmaiden" was invited to the festival last year. He also won the highest honor there, the Palme d'Or with "Old Boy" in 2004, and was awarded the Prix du Jury with "Thirst" in 2009.
