Domestic Film Tops Box Office

A domestic movie "Hanbando" meaning "Korean Peninsula" has topped the nation's box office which has been dominated by Hollywood films since the release of the Tom Cruise studded "Mission Impossible 3" in early May.

The much-anticipated film directed by Kang Woo-suk sold some three-hundred-20-thousand tickets at about one-hundred-20 theaters in Seoul over the past three-day holiday.

The provocative movie dealing with the nation's conflicts with Japan beat out the American flick "The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest", which drew about two-hundred-90-thousand people at some one-hundred-10 theaters in Seoul during the same period.

Meanwhile, another Hollywood blockbuster "Superman Returns" came in third.
