Epik High Signs With YG & Prepping For September Comeback

Epik High is back! Or they soon will be.

After frontman Tablo signed with YG Entertainment September of last year, the remaining members Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz, have followed suit. The signing process has already been finalized and the three have finished the recordings for their next album. The release of a new album will be the first from the group since "Epilogue" in March of 2010.

Much anticipation is being garnered over what kind of a finished product will be presented with the synergy effect of Epik High and YG Entertainment. Epik High is one of the most recognized mainstream hip hop groups in Korea, while YG Entertainment is an agency that has strong hip hop roots.

The agency also was a huge support system in re-launching Tablo back to the top following the controversy over the legitimacy of his educational background. Tablo had shared on a past episode of "Strong Heart", that during his rough times, he would get around via the bus
or subway without managers. One day, he had a speech at a university scheduled, and YG Entertainment sent him a van and two managers, simply from the fact that he was the husband of one of their entertainers (actress Kang Hye-jung). Tablo shared how moved he was, thinking, "What kind of agency is this where it takes care of all the surrounding people [in their network]?"

The rest is history. Tablo ended up signing under YG, producing what was one of the most anticipated, praised, and well-received albums of that year.

Now Epik High is gearing up for their comeback, hoping for similar successful results. Their new album will be dropping in September.
