"I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK", the film debut of Korea's top entertainer, Rain, went past Daniel Henney's "Seducing Mr. Perfect", and grabbed the no. 1 slot in last weekend's box office.

"I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK", where Rain appears as a psychopath, drew 81,000 people to the 74 theaters in Seoul where it was shown, during the two-day weekend alone (December 9 and 10). The second-ranking "Seducing Mr. Perfect", on the other hand, drew an audience consisting of 78,000 people (69 theaters) on the same days, about 3,000 less than the people who saw the no. 1 movie during the weekend.
Although the two films were premiered on the same day (December 7), all in all, "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" drew about 80,000 more viewers than "Seducing Mr. Perfect" did. A total of 471,000 people watched "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK", while a total of 390,000 watched "Seducing Mr. Perfect".
These box office results were brought about mainly by the fierce loyalty of Rain's and of director Park Chan-wook's fans. During its press preview, "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" did not receive good reviews. On the other hand, "Seducing Mr. Perfect", despite its clumsy setting, was expected to be a huge hit mainly because of Daniel Henney's charms, which many female fans go gaga over. While the box office results of "Seducing Mr. Perfect" are thus far not bad, the film unexpectedly tagged behind "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" in the box office.

During the last two-day weekend, about 48,000 people trooped to the theaters where it was shown (50 theaters). Having been premiered three weeks ago, this film has thus far already drawn 1,237,000 viewers.
No. 4 was "Pan's Labyrinth", which was seen by 28,000 people last weekend (33 theaters), followed by "Saw 3", "Once in a Summer", and "The Departed".
A fantasy masterpiece set against the Spanish Civil War, "Pan's Labyrinth" has drawn an audience consisting of 416,000 people nationwide within two weeks of its premier. "Saw 3", for its part, drew a crowd consisting of 19,000 people during the last two-day weekend in Seoul (39 theaters). "Once in a Summer" and "The Departed" each drew an 11,000-strong audience. "Once in a Summer", however, surpassed "The Departed" by a narrow margin.
