Fallen Idol Sentenced to 6 Years over Clandestine Sex Tapes

Singer Jung Joon-young was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday for illegally videotaping himself having sex with women and sharing the clips in Kakao Talk chatrooms.

In a joint trial, the Seoul Central District Court also sentenced Choi Jong-hoon of boy band FT Island to five years in prison for taking part in a gang rape. Choi was convicted of raping a woman together with Jung and other friends in 2016.

The victim said she fell unconscious after drinking with them and they had apparently slipped tranquilizers into her drink.

Jung exchanged video footage and photos with his friends in a celebrity chat group in 2015 and 2016 which included clips of him having sex with women and footage of several apparent rapes.

The chat group also included Seungri of boy band Big Bang, who is embroiled in his own pimping scandal.
