After setting a new all-time opening day record of 1.24 million viewers last Wednesday, the CGI-heavy fantasy spectacle set a single-day box office record on Saturday with ticket sales exceeding 1.47 million, taking it past the 5 million mark. That milestone was soon eclipsed, as the film drew over 1 million more viewers on Sunday.

The film surpassed the previous single-day record of 1.33 million set by "Avengers: Infinity War", followed by "Roaring Currents" (1.26 million), "Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds" (1.27 million), "Train to Busan" (1.28 million) and "A Taxi Driver" (1.12 million).

The sequel is expected to be this summer's smash hit, attracting more than 1 million moviegoers a day. A record-setting heat wave across the country is also having a positive impact on ticket sales.
