Hyoyeon of Girls' Generation, one of the most successful Korean girl groups, has added another job title to her resume as an EDM DJ.

Hyoyeon will be spinning the decks as DJ Hyo along with world famous Dutch DJ Afrojack on the first day of a music festival at the Han River Park in Seoul, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday this week. She is also invited to Asia's largest electronic music festival, It's the Ship, in Singapore in November.

Hyoyeon said her experience of being in charge of difficult dance moves at Girls' Generation helped her as a DJ. "When I perform with other members, if I make a small mistake in singing or dancing, it doesn't show that much. But when I perform on my own, even the smallest mistakes look big. That made me feel more nervous and practice harder", she said.

"In dance battles, there is always a DJ. It's the DJ's job to encourage them to dance, and that's where his or her abilities shine".

Hyoyeon said she is working hard to move away from the cute image associated with her as a member of Girls' Generation. "I worked hard to look cute and pretty with Girls' Generation, but now as a DJ I try to regain my true self as a bold woman who embraces challenges. I want everyone to say I look completely different".
