Ryu donated the entire sum of prize money she received after winning the Kia Motors Korea Women's Open Championship last month.

"As the event was held thanks to many people's efforts and sacrifices amid difficult times due to the coronavirus epidemic, I decided to donate W150 million to the Community Chest of Korea and W100 million to the Mediheal Foundation in hope that the prize money can be used for valuable purposes", she said in a press release issued by her management agency on Monday.

The W150 million donated to the Community Chest of Korea will be used to provide protective suits for medical staff and help people in need cover the cost of coronavirus tests.

The Mediheal Foundation is a Christian charity that helps single mothers, young school dropouts and migrant workers. The donation will be used to help those underprivileged people prevent coronavirus.

Ryu has donated W100 million each to the foundation and its scholarship program every year since 2017.
