Hallyu Friendship Association to Open in Hong Kong

A hallyu friendship association of Hong Kong academia, culture and tourism sectors and the press will be founded in Hong Kong, reflecting the popularity of Korean culture on the island.

A Hong Kong official and professor said that a meeting on the preparations for establishing the association was held recently with some 20 culture sector representatives in attendance, and that they decided to launch the association early next year.

The association will be the first organization dedicated to foreign culture in Hong Kong. It will publicize Korean pop culture and traditional tangible and intangible assets in Hong Kong, play the role of a network for the Hong Kong fans of hallyu stars, and bring together ethnic Koreans living in Hong Kong. The association will also open a library publicizing Korean culture.

One of the participants of the meeting said that interest in Korean culture and language keeps growing in Hong Kong academia.
