The sageuk, or historical drama, is one of the earliest forms of Korean drama and the basis for what we know and love. Over the years it has evolved to include all sorts of fusion such as fantasy and time travel elements. The year of 2017 saw quite a few wonderful sageuk. Vote for your favorite of this year's historical dramas from December 24 to January 7. Results for all categories will be released starting on December 30!

"My Sassy Girl - Drama" - The 2001 "My Sassy Girl" inspired Joseon-era re-make with a couple as quirky as the original.

"Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People" - A tale of a man wounded by circumstance who fought for justice, his people, and his loved ones. There are some epically moving performances in this drama.

"Ruler: Master of the Mask" - The tale of a leader who traversed adversity and his own insecurities on a bumpy path to the throne.

"Saimdang: Light's Diary" - A tale that crossed the centuries, linked by a painting, and by inextricable fate.

"Hwarang" - The story of beautiful, talented men and their journey to protect the throne.

"Queen for 7 Days" - One of the most moving sageuk about a queen who was crowned and deposed within seven days and her tragic love story with her king.
