I start from the position that generalisations are usually wrong; and when different gender and racial perspectives are thrown into the mix it will be impossible to get anything right. So to play it safe I will refrain from expressing any personal or subjective views, and restrict myself to selecting stereotypes, and in particular highlight how particular stereotypes are portrayed in contemporary Korean cultural contents".

""The Assassination" Tops 2nd Korean Film Producers Association Awards"

Choi Dong-hoon's award-winning "The Assassination" (starring Jun Ji-hyun, Lee Jung-jae and Ha Jung-woo) won Best Film at the Blue Dragon Awards last month, and now the Film Producers Association has mirrored that praise by awarding it its Best Film Award. Last year the prize went to Kim Seong-hun's "A Hard Day".

"'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Inspires K-Pop, Fuels Merchandise Frenzy in South Korea"

The world is ablaze with Star Wars fever as the seventh instalment of the hugely popular series made its way to screens worldwide this week. The film has already smashed a number of records, and at the time of writing this, the film has grossed $72.7 million. In Korea the excitement is palpable, evident in the popularity of K-pop group EXO's new "Lightsaber" track: "The enthusiasm for the franchise also extends to the local pop music scene. K-pop boy band EXO, which has a cult following across Asia, released a single, Lightsaber, in collaboration with Walt Disney Company Korea. The music video for the song has recorded more than 5.8 million views on YouTube as of Tuesday, ever since its release last month. The band also serves as honorary ambassador for promoting the film in Korea".
