<p style=Kim Hong-seon's step away from directing dramas to films has been well rewarded as his first film "The Traffickers" has jumped to first position in its opening weekend with 533 243 admissions. His feature length action thriller stars Im Chang-jung, Choi Daniel and Oh Dal-soo whom together shoved past other local favorites, such as Kim Hwi's "Neighbors" and Kim Joo-ho's "The Grand Heist", to sit proudly at the top of the pile. The top four films are all local flavors, marking yet another strong weekend for Korea's homemade brew of cinematic fantasy.

<p style=Kim Hwi's "Neighbors" narrowly missed out on a second weekend at top after having just recently trumped "The Thieves" last weekend. Kim's new thriller is approaching the 2 million admissions mark in good time, but the success of "The Traffickers" has meant that its reign was short-lived. "The Grand Heist" has yet to taste gold, but is easily consoled with its total admissions count now of 4,595,782. That puts this historical comedy on course to overtake both "Everything about my Wife" and "Nameless Gangster" in the list of the year's top performers. The biggest film of year "The Thieves" is at four, having adding 265,435 to its new total of, wait for it, 12,591,574 admission!

<p style=Breaking away from the local hits now, and the U.S film "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" makes its entry into the Korean market with 188,955, followed "Step Up 4" which claimed 94,188 in ticket sales. Despite Rain's successful performance during his military service, his new film "R2B: Return to Base" has seen a steady decline in interest. The action flick added just 51 498 to its cause, leaving it to pondering its very average total ticket count of 1,172,907.

<p style="Project 577" is an interesting documentary from Yi Keun-Woo that see Ha Jung-woo and Kong Hyo-jin travel 577km around the country just because of something that was said. The film is described by its promoters as a real "variety movie" as the two travel from Seoul to Haenam, South Jeolla Province, and around the the peninsula's southernmost point. At nine is the U.S. action remake "Total Recall" with 34,037, followed by Belgium animation "Sammy's Adventures 2" with 29,265.
