[HanCinema's News] Cha Tae-hyun's Seven Years of Work on 2 Days & 1 Night Now in Flux

2019/03/19 | 1393 views | Permalink

Following revelations that he participated in sports gambling, Cha Tae-hyun's future is now unknown. As of March 19th, KBS has still not answered questions or posted information about the future of the variety show that makes his reputation, 2 Days & 1 Night. The show may be canceled outright, or Cha Tae-hyun alone may be removed.

Cha Tae-hyun's reputation as a family man and kind neighbor are what makes up most of his public persona. It is unclear how well Cha Tae-hyun can weather the damage done to his good name. While the gambling allegations are light compared to most of what has come out of the 'Burning Sun' investigation, simply being connected to that name at all has done Cha Tae-hyun no favors.

Cha Tae-hyun's agency has emphasized that he thought of his actions as simply being a round of fun amongst friends, that there were no grander implications, and that the money was ultimately returned. Promises have been made that this will never happen again.
