According to figures released by the Korean Film Council on August 5th, "Emergency Declaration" has opened at the top of the South Korean box office. The disaster thriller film had 336,745 admissions on August 3rd and 222,126 admissions on August 4th. Combined with early admissions, "Emergency Declaration" now totals 581,200 admissions, and is a lock to break the million viewer mark this weekend.

However, whether "Emergency Declaration" will be able to outperform "Hansan: Rising Dragon" throughout that weekend is ambiguous. "Hansan: Rising Dragon" had 209,349 admissions on August 4th, and has been conserving more momentum in theatrical sales. "Emergency Declaration" stars Song Kang-ho and Lee Byung-hun in the leading roles as, respectively, a detective charged with thwarting a terrorist attack on a plane and an unlucky bystanding passenger on the afflicted plane.
