[HanCinema's News] "HARD HIT" Leads in First Day at the Box Office

"HARD HIT" has outperformed all other South Korean films this year in its first day at the domestic box office. According to figures released by the Korean Film Council, the vehicular thriller had 55,630 admissions in its first day. This compares to 45,153 admissions for "SEOBOK" from this past April, with the introspective science fiction having a much higher profile cast. The minor actor Jo Woo-jin was the lead for "HARD HIT" with the more famous Ji Chang-wook playing a comparably undermarketed role.

Impressions from viewers have been quite positive, allowing "HARD HIT" to easily outperform a major Hollywood film that opened this same week. Despite the film's focus being on an older banker, younger viewers in particular were drawn to "HARD HIT" thanks to the simple concept and well-marketed thriller elements. "HARD HIT" is now well-positioned to overcome "Recalled" as the best performing South Korean film of the year depending on how it does through the weekend.
