[HanCinema's News] Hyun Bin's Agency Issues Warning Regarding Rumormongering

VAST Entertainment recently released a somewhat cryptic message on social media, stating that they were dedicated to protecting actors under their representation and were preparing careful records of rumors against them. No specific names were provided in the fairly generic warning.

The most likely action to provoke the message from VAST Entertainment has been the Joo Jin-mo cell phone hacking incident, which has done serious damage to the reputations of Joo Jin-mo and his close friend Jang Dong-gun. The only actor represented by VAST Entertainment whose name has appeared in connection with the hacks is Hyun Bin.

However, the connection is a peripheral one. Hyun Bin has held membership in the recreational actor baseball team 'The Playboys' and as such reference to him appears in some of the hacked materials from Joo Jin-mo's cell phone. Though the two had social acquaintance, they are not known to be particularly strong friends. Hyun Bin appeared alongside Jang Dong-gun in the opening ceremony to the 2018 Busan International Film Festival, but do not share any screenwriting credits.

Hyun Bin is currently starring in "Crash Landing on You" as a North Korean officer alongside Son Ye-jin, who plays a South Korean heiress. To date there are no rumors of Hyun Bin having engaged in any inappropriate behavior in relationship to Joo Jin-mo or Jang Dong-gun.
